More details from petition creator

The unparished area of Maidenhead has a population of c50,000, about one-third of the total population of RBWM, who are missing local representation enjoyed by the areas of the Borough that are ‘parished’.

Maidenhead is undergoing massive change, which will significantly impact its residents who only have access to the Maidenhead Town Forum, which is scheduled to meet only four times a year. The reality is that in the last two years it has only met three times.

Funds raised by the new Community Infrastructure Levy (paid for by property developers) are not kept locally. In addition, RBWM have set the CIL rate in Maidenhead Town Centre at 0% meaning the town centre currently has no local levy. A Town Council would be consulted when rates are set and would receive 15% of the funds (25% with an adopted Neighbourhood Plan, currently underway) and choose what this money is spent on.

There would be no additional charge to Council Tax Payers as an average of the Parish precepts collected in the ‘parished’ areas is currently charged to those who are not in a ‘parished’ area but this goes into the RBWM ‘pot’ and is not ring-fenced to be spent locally to those who have paid it.
