Petition to: Hold the relevant councillors to account for wasting RBWM council tax on only “good news” street lighting promotional banners

We the undersigned petition The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to Hold the relevant councillors to account for wasting RBWM council tax on only “good news” street lighting promotional banners. More details

More details from petition creator

The council wasted over £20,000 on 100+ promotional banners, displayed, without the necessary planning permission, around the RBWM. I believe this was done WITHOUT full council agreement, with an election looming to put the spotlight on the Conservative led council’s great works! We, the undersigned, are appalled at this complete waste of our council tax given: • “it is projected... Council borrowing could increase from the £57 million forecast… to £80.4 million at the end of 2019/20” • Planning permission was not secured before installation • These banners are expensive, environmentally unfriendly & create a disposal problem, breaking the single use plastics policy • They do not accurately reflect meeting the RBWM’s six key priorities Either, the banners need to be paid for by the conservative party & deducted from the relevant councillors' election allowance or removed immediately and a full apology to local residents published in the local paper and on social media.
